I am sorry for the delay of my post. I have been sick for several days now. However, I did want to get something down for last week. I hope everyone had a great New Year’s Day. I am still under the weather so these will be some quick reviews and general thoughts.
I was able to read The New New Rules by Bill Maher. I am a huge fan of Maher but I was a little apprehensive because of some of the reviews that I read. A lot of people said the book was disappointing. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. If you watch his show, and don’t pretend to, I see no reason as to why you would not enjoy this. It is basically an extended version of his New Rules segment. Very funny and even my girlfriend who doesn’t watched him enjoyed a few I read for her. No, this won’t change the world but they entertain me. The only downside, for me, is that a few of these rules were taken from actual television episodes. He doesn’t hide that fact, Maher actually has the date and year of the episode. Still, slightly disappointing. Overall, solid B.
A while ago I had watched the first season of Chuck. Though it was better than I expected, a second viewing let me down. But I wanted to give the show a second chance. With all the geek and nerd buzz it still has even after ending is owed at least that. So, bought the second season Blu-Ray with some Christmas money. Wow… This show is brilliant. The comedy is some of the funniest I have ever seen, the action… I cannot believe they had the budget for some of it and the stop and go of the love story is really impressing me a lot. I am completely attached to Chuck and Sarah and want to see more. I am actually saving money so I can purchase the third season as soon as possible. I don’t want to say more because my girlfriend is still playing catch up with the episodes and she occasionally reads these. I want to hold off on grading it until I see the end, it’s hard to judge a television show until you understand all of the set ups and swerves, but that last episode of the second season (Chuck Versus The Ring) just begs to be rated. The second season of Chuck, solid A. I might revisit this after I watch the rest of the show to upgrade that grade. Please, you need to see Chuck. If the first season didn’t grab you, then get the second. You will not be disappointed. If nothing else, you will thank me just for Jeffster. But I’ve already said too much. Just buy it!!
This Saturday the first season of Downton Abbey, the third season of The Guild, and maybe a couple of books as well. Take care, I’m going back to laying down.
