I wanted to do a quick entry. I hope this finds everyone well. I was not sure about this move at first glance. When it was in theatres I went back and forth on possibly seeing it. After it won so many awards, and wanting to see Jennifer Lawrence’s acting spectrum, I decided to buy it. I previously told the story of wanting to get the Blu-Ray but only finding the DVDs in Barnes and Nobles (still annoyed about that) but I finally got my hands on a copy.
The acting was really well done by everyone involved. Like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, most of the dialogue felt very organic. And, for a film such as this, that works a lot better in setting tone and pacing. Lawrence won for best actress but, after watching this movie, I feel as though Bradley Cooper should have won for best actor. He plays his role perfectly and definitely is on equal, if not higher ground compared to his co-star. The best surprise for me was Chris Tucker. Not only does he do a great job, the audience gets to see him in a role he normally doesn’t play. His subtlety and wit are truly wonderful and I can only hope he can get more acting roles such as this one. So overall, the casting was great, so was the dialogue and the actual story. I actually had no idea this was previously a book but the author should definitely be quite proud.
So like I said, just a quick review of this great movie. Definitely go see it. I am going to give it a solid B+. Without a doubt worth a watch, and for me, worth owning it. I hope everyone has a great week. Take care.
